What Should Downtown St. Louis Patients Expect to Spend on a Medical Marijuana Card in 2026?

The overall cost of becoming a Missouri medical cannabis patient generally involves two primary components: the medical evaluation and the state patient application.

Downtown and the City of St. Louis do not add a separate neighborhood patient registration charge.

Typical Medical Evaluation Pricing

Medical providers establish their own consultation rates.

Patients may encounter:

  • Promotional evaluations beginning around $20
  • Standard appointments offered at higher prices
  • Different rates for initial certification and recertification

Before scheduling, patients should confirm what services are included in an advertised price.

The provider's consultation charge is separate from Missouri's patient application fee unless the provider specifically states otherwise.

Current Missouri Registration Charges

For the July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027 fee period:

  • Patient ID card: $28.92
  • Caregiver ID card: $28.92
  • Patient cultivation authorization: $57.83

Because Missouri periodically adjusts qualifying cannabis program fees, patients applying during a later fee period should verify the amount required at that time.

Additional Costs Downtown Patients May Encounter

Participation in Missouri's medical cannabis program can involve expenses beyond the original medical evaluation and patient application.

Possible costs include:

  • Medical certification or future recertification
  • Missouri patient registration
  • Patient cultivation authorization
  • Cannabis purchased from licensed dispensaries
  • Future medical recertification
  • State renewal fees

Because Missouri patient identification cards are generally valid for three years, Downtown patients ordinarily do not pay the patient ID renewal charge every year.
